Forthcoming gigs of 2008 and 2009

Here is a look into future gigs of mine during the next six months or so. I’ve decided to have maximum two weekends of DJing and two weeks without any gigs to have quality time with my family and the newborn and hopefully have some time in the studio too.

Coming up next is weekend in Frankfurt area in Germany where I’m playing with my old friend Stefano Libelle at Loft Club. I am also playing a one hour set at Radio Sunshine Live on Saturday evening. Next week I’ll be DJing in London at Electronic Sessions’ boat party on Thames with Jon O’Bir and some others. I played for them in June 2007 and judging by that there should be a great cruise ahead. It won’t be an AVA party though as Andy Moor was booked to Ministry of Sound the following week and had to cancel the ES gig. We’ll do an AVA party with Electronic Sessions sometime in 2009…

On Saturday 8th of November I’m having my first DJ gig in Helsinki since February at Pussy Club’s 10th Anniversary. It takes place at the old & legendary Hype Club’s premises at Presidentti Club. With Pussy B-Day party, Francesco Farfa as headliner and all of the old Pussy people around I’m sure it will be something magical. Congrats already now to the promoter Taru for these amazing ten years! In November I’m also starting a quarter annual (4 x year) residency at Music Box in Manchester which I’m super excited as it’s my first foreign residency.

December looks pretty hectic with my house night Jack celebrating it’s fifth anniversary at Kuudes Linja on Friday 12th with a pretty special foreign guest DJ. He is one of my all time favourite producers and DJs and you can find all the info at my site next week. On 19th of December I’m guest at Misc Management’s MiscBehaving event with a really strong line-up. Unfortunately the shadyness continues with this event too for while so all I can say is that there will be one big trance and one major progressive house name plus a strong finnish line-up. On Saturday 20th of December I’m heading to Tampere to experience the new club ONE. I’ve heard only good things about their first two events so it should be a great night.

New Year kicks off with a yet-to-be-announced NYE evening event while the first morning of 2009 will be spent at [:reiv] organization’s traditional afterhours event from 05:00 until 14:00. They have a fresh venue for it and I’ll be playing a somewhat special three hour set. As afterhour gigs seem to be rare nowadays I’m looking forward to this a lot too! 2009 will also see Jack nights starting every two months at a new location in Helsinki, Laserpoint vs Labyrinth event at Kaapelitehdas in April, some nice one offs around Finland while alongside my Manchester residency I’ve already got enquiries to Lebanon, Hungary, Netherlands and Romania.

I don’t want to sound overly optimistic but I’m quite excited with all those gigs. Hope to see you on the dancefloor with hands in the air! What do YOU think of these gigs? Anything you’re looking forward to? Guesses on the foreign guests? Bored of Orkidea already? ;) Let me know your thoughts!

Really looking forward to the Electronic Sessions boat party. Will be only the second time I’ve managed to see you play. The last time was an all-too-brief set at Wildchild a couple of years ago. Hope you’re getting more than an hour this time.

  2. I’m afraid most DJs only have an hour at the boat but let’s see. Hope to have 1 1/2 or two hours.

Since you step aside from TTI show, I have been keen to hear your sets but I have not hear them often as I hoped. So can you tell more about that RSL 1 hour mix because RSL-website is not the most informative page conserning your questmix.

  4. I’m not sure about the exact time of the Radio Sunshine Live set but I think it will be a one hour set as part of some two hour early evening show. I’ll let you know the details when I some.

Yeah, looking at the line-up there’s 6 DJ’s in 6 hours so 1-hour sets look inevitable. I’ll just have to come to Finland to hear you play a proper length set (I’m already putting plans together for me and some friends to come over for your 23-hour set New Year 2010).

In the more immediate future, do you know what time your set on Sunshine Live is being aired this Saturday? Would like to see if I can get someone in Germany to record it for me. :-)

After you stepped aside from TTI there was some talking about somekind of Orkidea podcast. Is there any news concerning that? It would be nice to hear fresh sets from you. And how about those artist profiles that you promised to make for TTI (only Oakenfold & Jacques Lu Cont/Stuart Price were aired)? It would be nice to hear those Bt and Marc Mitchell -profiles also ;).

  7. jjkobsson: Podcast is still coming… There are also constant talks with some of the major web radios if I’ll have a show there in some point. Hopefully there will be first podcast before end of 2008. Artist profile mixes could be part of the podcast in some point too… I enjoyed doing the Stuart Price/Oakenfold ones so why not more! There are still many heroes with amazing careers to cover:)

Any news on the time of your mix being broadcast on Sunshine Live?

  9. Sunshine Live set was postponed because the hosts got a live gig for that evening and had to pre-record the show. I’ll let you know when I know about a new date.
